Dual Epyc 7532 (64 core total), 128gb ram , Enterprise grade ssds +u2s , 500mbps up&down inet bandwidth

Problem

The machine plotting speed with february 4th farmer is about 11minutes/8plots
Any march farmer release would 4x that time and would also return a lot of misses (50%+)
I’ve tested most of March releseas with various arguments as advised in the discord server without much luck and would only see minimal improvement , eg: from 45min/8plots to 43minutes.

Please share your benchmark prove of the same disk also. I believe it’ll be superb also, but just in case Nazar wants to have reference.

Hi Nazar, I’m adding info here:

  1. He ran CLI with all default value for Mar 29 release. He had more than 4m/sector for this CPU and 50% miss.
  2. His CPU was not at high load when he ran this, between 50% to 80%.
  3. He was farming with 8 plots
  4. At the start of the farmer, it found 32 L3 memory cache for his CPU. My question: is this correct? How can it has up to 32 L3 group cache?

Again, seems it’s another windows bug. Please help.

Well, that is quite a gap of versions worth almost 2 months of changes. It would help if you can narrow it down more specifically.

Also I’m wondering if you have all CPU cores loaded properly. We pin threads to CPU cores and on high core count system like yours it is known to not work properly on Windows 10, but it does work fine on Windows 11 if you can upgrade to that.

Also it would help if you can provide all CLI options from when it worked fine on older version and also options you used for newer version.

P.S. There is no feb-04 release, did you mean feb-05 maybe?

yes my mistake , the correct version is 5th of Feb.
So any version after 4th of March , specifically 4th,18th,20th,22nd,25thand 29th would just 4x my plotting speeds.
I’ll look into temporarily upgrading to win11 to test this as long as I can easily downgrade back to win10. Thanks

We actually strongly prefer you don’t send screenshots, instead send text (as you did in the first message). You can search online how to copy text on Windows. It is much more readable and also searchable as text.

It it is messy and not clear what you used where. If you can provide exact CLI commands you used (before and after) then I’d be able to see everything I need to see there.

Yes all cores are used , the total utilisation would be between 70-100%, its’ not linear tho just like in the image below

You asked me if all cores are being used and I posted some screenshots . I’ve already said in my 3rd post that for some reason it doesn’t allow me to upload multiple screenshots in one go. (maybe because I’m a new user ?) so I had to add one at a time.

But what those screenshots correspond to, like which one of those is which release? I suspect one with high CPU usage is old release that works well for you and low CPU usage is new release?

I think the reason you see all this is that some farms have already plotted fully and some didn’t. So the way encoding is done in recent releases doesn’t use some of the dedicated CPU cores all the time.

You can likely fix it with --sector-encoding-concurrency 8 and performance should be even better than with older release. Don’t touch record encoding concurrency, etc. You can even decrease it a bit if you have fewer farms remaining to plot so you utilize 100% of the CPU because on last screenshot it was clearly not used fully.

I think something must be wrong here. It looks like the CPU resource is not used properly. So even the CPU load is 70%, how can the plot time is more than 4 minutes a sector for this dual CPU? It doesn’t make sense at all.

I’ve asked him to upgrade to Windows 11 and try again. I hope it’s only the issue with Windows 10.

What’s more: a lot of miss for this miserable man (40-50% rate) even though his disks are NVMe U2 and can do prove in less than 600ms.
