When a majority of the player base of a blockchain game seems only interested in the financial potential…what features would lead players to stick around when it’s not just about the money?
Gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. Strong storylines and characters with depth go a long way too. Does depend on genre though.
As for me, there are 2 main parts (without money) of game:
-
Interesting mechanics, gameplay, game difficulty. Unfortunately most of gamefi projects have poor gameplay, but with finance part.
-
Strong competitive part with ranked system.
P2P competition. War Riders does this well.
I used to played wolfteam with my friends our only goal was enjoy. While playing game people must to speak each other and also must to be clans like clash of clans. If a game is challenging, player would like to play.
the best example for my words: PubG
Perhaps it helps if the game is open source and runs on-chain: anyone can fork the code, make changes to the game (to a certain extent; cryptographically configurable) and then run a new instance of that game.
For successful crypto games, developers must prioritize web2 users and engage them in the crypto world with interesting lore, cool graphics, and so on.
From web2 to web3, that’s the only way.
The game should be addictive in the first place quality. And already in the second turn to show the advantages of the blockchain, financial incentives, etc.
Definitely the gameplay. The popularity of the product also plays an important role. Even if the game is boring and uninteresting, if it’s popular - it will be played.
The community needs to communicate and discuss something. When testing is on hiatus, there aren’t really any topics. So it’s good if there are games and quizzes. It’s fun and there is always something to discuss. Also, to keep things active, you can make Crew3 with uncomplicated activities that will give roles on the server. This will get people to come in more often.
Right on, AnnaV
Indeed, Justin and I work on a couple of role-earning quests on Discord. We plan to roll them out in the following weeks.
Quiz also a very good idea.
I appreciate your feedback
A great example is the wow
But that’s the level you need to achieve.
The game is so addictive.
that you don’t need the income.
the very fact of being able to play it is a reward.
